The Challenge

This is the journey of a 49 year old fat, really unfit woman who is determined to do her best in the tennis at the Gay Games in Cologne in August 2010.

Can she do it? Follow this blog to find out!

Finally!

I broke my drought of wins last Thursday with a 6-1 win in the singles and a 6-3 win in the doubles - whew! I have to admit that it felt good.

Only seven weeks to go now until we leave and now is the time to really step up the training.

I've entered the Waverely Tennis tournament for the Queens Birthday weekend - playing B grade Ladies singles. It seems that we will be mixed in with the 16 year olds - oh well yet another thumping at the hands of an infant likely to be handed out.

And joy, the French Open has begun - more opportunities to study clay court tactics.

Mea Culpa

I was meant to see Tim the Physio on Friday but when I got home, we started celebrating our 6th anniversary and I just kind of forgot...

One of Judy's martinis will do that to you.... and then there was the French champagne...

And I need to see him - cos my damn hip is playing up again so, Tim, if you're reading this - I promise I will keep my next appointment....

60 something days to go!

A little over 60 days to go and we are in the air and on our way to Europe. Still training pretty hard and starting to be a lot more focussed about my diet. Alicia is being very encouraging - Tim says I shouldn't bother to come back if I don't win....Ah the pleasures of having a support crew.

Rae and I are going to start having doubles lessons with Victor.

All I can say is that if I don't do well, it won't be for lack of trying...
